Nazi comparisons at protests

The Mauthausen Concentration Camp Memorial resolutely rejects the exploitation by opponents of vaccination who compare the current measures to combat the Covid 19 pandemic with those of the Nazi reign of terror and instrumentalize the former concentration camp Mauthausen for their agenda.

"Mauthausen" in the Nazi regime meant deportations, forced labor, torture, shootings, and killings in gas chambers. Restrictions in everyday life and a pending compulsory vaccination can in no way be compared with the deeds of the National Socialists. To put oneself on a par with victims of these crimes because one temporarily does not enjoy all the accustomed comforts is an intolerable presumption. We expect that these statements will find no place in this community.
