‘Make a twofold disappearance visible’: New photo exhibition at the Mauthausen Memorial
On 10 April 2019, the Mauthausen Memorial will showcase work by Austrian photographer Marko Zink in the exhibition ‘M (48° 15’ 24.13” N, 14° 30’ 6.31” E)’. Zink’s aim in this project is to use photographic techniques to make a twofold disappearance visible: the extermination of people and the eradication of memory. -

Book Launch: Elmer Luchterhand “Einsame Wölfe und stabile Paare” Mauthausen-Studien (volume 11)
"Einsame Wölfe und stabile Paare. Verhalten und Sozialordnung in den Häftlingsgesellschaften nationalsozialistischer Konzentrationslager" is the German translation of Prisoner Behavior and Social System in Nazi Concentration Camps, a PhD dissertation by the American sociologist Elmer Luchterhand, which was accepted in 1953. The publication of this edition, edited by Andreas Kranebitter and Christian Fleck means that an impressive proportion of Elmer Luchterhand’s hitherto unpublished work is now accessible to researchers. -

Working together with young people, the Mauthausen Memorial organised a reception for survivors with the title 'We are the next generation', which took place on 7 May 2017, immediately after the International Liberation Ceremony. -

Opening of the 'Bistro Mauthausen Memorial'
Since 1 March 2016, four people with disabilities – supported by professional catering staff from the charity Diakoniewerk – have been providing visitors to the Mauthausen Memorial with refreshments at the 'Bistro Mauthausen Memorial'. Following extensive renovations made possible by the Burghauptmannschaft Austria, the restaurant, which is run on an integrative model, was reopened on 5 April 2017 by State Governor Dr. Josef Pühringer at a ceremony at the Mauthausen Memorial Visitor Centre. -

Opening of the touring exhibition 'Talking About It'
On 11 February 2016 the Mauthausen Memorial, together with _erinnern.at_ (BMBF), invited representatives from regional schools to a special event for teachers. This also marked the official opening of the touring exhibition Talking About It, which was on display in the Visitor Centre at the Mauthausen Memorial from 11 February to 4 March 2016.
