Integrative Restaurant at the Mauthausen Memorial Reopens After Renovations
Since 1 March 2016, four people with disabilities – supported by professional catering staff from the charity Diakoniewerk – have been providing visitors to the Mauthausen Memorial with refreshments at the ‘Bistro Mauthausen Memorial’. Following extensive renovations made possible by the Burghauptmannschaft Austria, the restaurant, which is run on an integrative model, was reopened on 5 April 2017 by State Governor Dr. Josef Pühringer. -

International Advisory Board Established
The Mauthausen Memorial Federal Institution came into operation on 1 January 2017. The Board of Trustees has been active since November 2016 and the International Advisory Board met for the first time at the Interior Ministry on 17 January 2017. -

Director of the Mauthausen Memorial Federal Institution Appointed
On 1 January 2017, responsibility for the organisation and upkeep of the Mauthausen memorial complex passes to the Mauthausen Memorial Federal Institution. On 22 December 2016, DDr. Barbara Glück was appointed director of the federal institution, with Mag. Jochen Wollner and Mag. Gudrun Blohberger receiving appointments as deputy directors. -

Supervisory Board Established for the Mauthausen Memorial Federal Institution
On 1 January 2017, responsibility for the organisation and upkeep of the Mauthausen memorial complex will pass to the newly established Mauthausen Memorial Federal Institution. On 10 November 2016, the 15 members of the Board of Trustees took up their honorary role as Supervisory Board. -

Reorganising the Mauthausen Memorial - Bill in the Council of Ministers
The Mauthausen Memorial shall be spun-off as from 1 January 2017. The corresponding Memorial Act (GStG) was submitted to the Government in the Council of Ministers on 24 May 2016. -

Mauthausen Memorial and Diakoniewerk put an inclusive new catering concept into action
The charity Diakoniewerk has put into action an inclusive catering concept at the Mauthausen Memorial: the ‘Bistro Mauthausen Memorial’ is now staffed by people with disabilities working together with catering professionals. This gives the Mauthausen Memorial, an important space of commemoration and learning, added significance as a space of social encounter.
